Handcrafted from sustainable papier mâché, the Atelier Paper Mache Vase has a buff coloured limewash-like matte finish. With a timeless and appealing organic shape, it holds its own as a decorative object that adds organic texture and form, but also looks stunning with dried flowers. Made from recycled newspaper, our papier mâché pieces are entirely natural and sustainable. First the newspaper is mixed with water, then chalk and tree sap crystals are added to turn the substance into a clay-like material. The pulp is kneaded into chapati-like forms, then rolled and moulded into the sculptural objects we love. There is no firing, no power used, and the process is entirely eco-friendly.
Each piece will have subtle differences in finish and these variations are part of the handmade appeal.
Porous in nature, papier mâché should not be exposed to liquids.
